Miss Representation

The movie Miss Representation was very inspirational and touching.  After watching this movie I feel that every person should watch it.  It really surprised me of how badly women around the world are degraded, even in a strong and well educated country like America women are very much underestimated and put down on.  Miss Representation showed how women are seen as objects especially in media.  At one point of the movie they showed how highly educated and powerful ladies running in elections for leading roles are humiliated and disgustingly joked about by media.  For instance, Sarah Palin who was running for president in America is a woman who represented femininity greatly like being a working mother.  Yet gruesome jokes were made about her and she was called  very disrespectful names because of her look.  This also goes for another women who was running for president in America.  That person is Hilary Clinton, but instead of representing femininity highly she showed a mix between masculinity and femininity.  She was also given sexist slogans like, "iron my shirt."
A lot of people often men would yell this out to her while she would be giving important speeches.  This made me think of bullying.  If the world wants childhood bullying to end then adults must stop their ways of bullying aswell.  The media constantly bashing women for being educated and more powerful than other men is a cruel and disturbing way of bullying because by now with the amount of knowledge, education and theories about this universe we have you would think we would have overcome the habit of being sexist beings.  Miss Representation was an eye opener to how we still as people of the world have a lot to learn and overcome and I hope this movie will make a difference to more as it did for me. :)
