Midterm Reflection - GetFit

GetFit has again been a wonderful experience so far this year.  I have improved with my fitness a lot compared to the beginning of this year which was my main motive in joining this course.  I feel that last year I had a more ammature mentality with fitness and this year my maturity with knowing exactly where I want to improve has improved.  I feel more in control with my knowledge on fitness and my self-motivation has increased a lot. This has affected my confidence in a positive way and I hope to keep it up. I joined GetFit because I felt that it changes me as a person in a good way both mentally and physically. This course always affects my personality the most out of any other courses I take. My leadership skills has improved quite a lot within my group of friends. By leadership skills I mean that I am more able to encourage my peers and spread a positive attitude and when I do this it motivates me even more! I absolutely love the fact that we get to go on field trips because it increases the variety of things I have tried in my life which has contributed to my self-esteem. I find that one of my weaknesses is involvement and in GetFit field trips there's a force in getting involved such as when we went to the Panorama Dance Studio, Self Defence class, and Fencing. GetFit always makes such a great impact in my life and I'm so happy that this course exists.

My fitness and health has improved a lot outside of school as well. In the summer I go to an all womans gym called "She's Fit" with my mom and it allows me to be more independant with my fitness and practice routines that I learnt in GetFit 2012/2013.  It also allows me to spend time with my mom which increases our great relationship. I walk to school every morning in all weather conditions and it has improved my health. I also got braces recently which will cut out all junk food practically that I used to digest. I feel that my future with fitness and health will improve as I mature as a person and I am already seeing the changes!

So far in this course I think I would be at an A (89%-92%.) There is still room for improvement !

Panorama Dance Studio/ Fitness Progress

Going to the Panorama Dance Studio was a blast! I love dancing so it was a great experience learning a Jazz routine to a song that I really like "Slow Down" by Selena Gomez. :)
I absolutely loved warming up at the studio because I felt very sore the next day which is a good sign after working out. Overall learning the whole routine with success gave me a sense of achievement and I enjoy that feeling very much! The days I work the hardest are when I feel completely healthy, energetic, and when I am surrounded by a positive atmosphere. I usually try hardest during fitness or days when our class is doing a more challenging activity. I also work hard in the weight room. The people I am surrounded with and just my self motivation and goals that I have set for myself this year in GetFit are contributors to how I participate in gym.  Compared to me during my summer holidays where most of the time I lounged around, I have seen an improvement with my fitness and I would like to keep seeing more improvements. To conclude, so far the start of GetFit has been great for me and I hope to have more positive feedback at the end of GetFit! :)

Get Fit 2013-2014 (First Post)

I am taking GetFit for another year now because my first experience with GetFit was AMAZING! I loved the amount of class spirit and motivation we all had and I just couldn't not take it for a second year. I hope to improve even more than I did last year by pushing myself even harder. I hope to have a very similar class experience in GetFit as last year. Last year our class became very motivational and hardworking which left myself and other classmates very proud. Lastly, I hope to have a fun and great time in GetFit and make new friends! Lets go GetFit 2014 ! :)

Miss Representation

The movie Miss Representation was very inspirational and touching.  After watching this movie I feel that every person should watch it.  It really surprised me of how badly women around the world are degraded, even in a strong and well educated country like America women are very much underestimated and put down on.  Miss Representation showed how women are seen as objects especially in media.  At one point of the movie they showed how highly educated and powerful ladies running in elections for leading roles are humiliated and disgustingly joked about by media.  For instance, Sarah Palin who was running for president in America is a woman who represented femininity greatly like being a working mother.  Yet gruesome jokes were made about her and she was called  very disrespectful names because of her look.  This also goes for another women who was running for president in America.  That person is Hilary Clinton, but instead of representing femininity highly she showed a mix between masculinity and femininity.  She was also given sexist slogans like, "iron my shirt."
A lot of people often men would yell this out to her while she would be giving important speeches.  This made me think of bullying.  If the world wants childhood bullying to end then adults must stop their ways of bullying aswell.  The media constantly bashing women for being educated and more powerful than other men is a cruel and disturbing way of bullying because by now with the amount of knowledge, education and theories about this universe we have you would think we would have overcome the habit of being sexist beings.  Miss Representation was an eye opener to how we still as people of the world have a lot to learn and overcome and I hope this movie will make a difference to more as it did for me. :)
